Sustainable Celebrations: Eco-Friendly Tips for Events at Our Venue

Planning a celebration often involves many details. At our nonprofit, we encourage sustainable practices to make your gatherings eco-friendly & on budget too. Here are some practical tips to help you plan a green + sustainable event.

Choose Reusable Decorations

Decorations add charm to any space. Opt for reusable items like cloth tablecloths and napkins. You can also use potted plants instead of cut flowers. These choices reduce waste and can be used again for future gatherings– or as a gift ffrom you to your honored guests.

Another tip is to encourage guests to bring their own reusable water bottles or cups when gathering for BBQ or baptism for example. You can provide drink stations for easy refills. This simple step can significantly cut down on plastic waste.

Source Local & Organic Food

Food is a big part of any celebration. Choose local and organic options to reduce your carbon footprint. Local produce travels fewer miles, which means less pollution. Organic foods are grown without harmful chemicals, making them better for the environment.

Reduce Energy Consumption

Energy use is another area where you can make a difference. Host your gathering during the day to take advantage of natural light. If you need lighting, we have got you covered with our energy-efficient LED bulbs spread all across our land. These use less power and last longer than traditional bulbs.

For music and other electronic needs, use our energy-efficient speakers that are solar-powered and located throughout the property. This not only saves energy but also reduces overall carbon footprint.

Offering incentives like preferred parking spots for carpoolers can also motivate guests to share rides. These efforts can significantly reduce the environmental impact of your gathering!

Recycle & Compost

Did you know we are big on recycle & compost around here? We literally have bins of waste dedicated for these two around the property! Help us by looking for the blue & green bins for recycle – located outside. And if you wish to compost food while celebrating here, scraps and biodegradable items are great, just place it under our farm sink in a dedicated bucket. We will take care of the rest from there or you may get a sneak peak in our garden main compost bins and see the magic for yourself!

Spread the Word

Finally, share your commitment to sustainability with your guests. Include information about your eco-friendly practices in your invitations. You can also make announcements during your gathering  to educate and inspire others!

By taking these steps, you not only reduce the environmental impact of your celebration but also set a positive example for others to follow. Together, we can make a difference, one step at a time!
